Problem with CNAME

Hello , I’ve a domain by freenom "sgsproms.ml"
I linked it using CNAME method from the tutorial from freenom website control panel but every time i try to link it from 000webhost it gives me this error " Domain sgsproms.ml CNAME must be pointed to sgsproms.000webhostapp.com "
i’ve already pointed the cname

please help , thanks in advance

I suggest use name servers instead of cname.

ok i have another problem
i need when i type “sgsproms.ml” , when the website opens , it remains sgsproms.ml
not redirected to sgsproms.000webhostapp.com
like this

Is this what you mean…

First you want to set up your domain!!!

Then…i guess you want to have a sub domain…for your domain

eg:- dev.sgsproms.ml

i was using the nameservers method before i posted that topic
so when i was linking the domain to sgsproms.000webhost.com
when i type sgsproms.ml in bar
it changes to sgsproms.000webhostapp.com

i need it to remain sgsproms.ml

Ok…so for this you need to park domain using name servers.

Go to your domain dns on freenom.

add 000webhost nameservers:-

ns01.000webhost.com
ns02.000webhost.com
(Do wait till name servers gets fully propagated)

Then login to your 000webhost account…and go to “Set web address” – “Add domain” use park method .

i made it since ur first reply , i’m waiting for nameservers to be changed right now
but what i am talking about was when i was using 000webhost nameservers before i try to change it to cname method which didn’t work
i has the problem which is redirecting to sgsproms.000webhostapp.com instead of remaing as sgsproms.ml

I guess this happened while changing from name servers to cname…

Maybe this happened because you have removed name servers…and not waited for it to take effect.
Before you add the cname.

ok right now 000webhost is showing " Waiting for nameservers "
hopefully the problem will be fixed
thank you so much for replying , much appreciated

nameservers updated and ready
i linked
but still same problem
it redirects to sgsproms.000websiteapp.com

Its working fine…no redirects.

Clear your cache and data!!! The try

Dont use “https”…use only “http”

yes i fixed the redirection
now i’m making cloudflare ssl by changing nameservers to cloudflare’s nameserver
so i can make my website secure
thanks for replying

Hi there from the image you showed it looks like you are using WordPress

If you visited sgsproms.ml and it brought up 000webhostapp it is because you incorrectly configured WordPress

Would have to reflect sgsproms.ml and not 000webhostapp

Also if using WordPress I recommend adding this - https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/wp-force-http/

HTTPS is for premium users only.
I do NOT recommend attempting to use SSL without a valid certificate nor having a premium account.

Hosting24.com for a premium account including SSL.

If you have any more questions do reply.

yes i made the change in settings and it worked , i forgot to edit it when i made the website i’m an idiot
i don’t know premium features :frowning:
anyways thanks for your feedbacks

I can’t seem to load your site

It doesn’t appear to point with nameservers or CNAME to 000webhost visibly.

Does your site function for you?

When I try to load http://sgsproms.000webhostapp.com

It loads the WordPress configuration file which must be incorrectly configured to https://

website is working for me

I guess when you clear your browser cache/data or flush your DNS it will probably stop working.

It is just luck that your computer has cached your site/DNS info to the old config

No one else I will ASSUME can access it :frowning:

If you open cmd.exe and run ipconfig /flushdns

It should load your changes you’ve made to your domain DNS…

then what should i do lol

000webhost systems check to make sure your website is pointing at the servers, and if not it will consider your account inactive etc and may suspend/delete.

Your website.com needs to point at ns01.000webhost.com ns02.000webhost.com etc or if you must a CNAME which I personally don’t recommend.

I don’t see any benefit of CloudFlare especially when combined with FREE HOSTING - I’d recommend the use of CloudFlare if you had a dedicated server or even premium shared hosting from Hosting24.com the premium service but not with free hosting there isn’t many advantages if any?

At the end of the day it is your choice to use CloudFlare but with free hosting I do not recommend it unless you can show me any broad examples of it being of use?
